Budget_Ease2

Hello,

Welcome to our 3rd weekly communication to share what BudgetEase is seeing and to help each other during this challenging time. Informative prior Weekly Updates can be found here

The biggest challenges in the past week have been:

  • Being patient with the SBA and their unclear funding.
  • Having two children who were let go from their dream jobs. Both are out of town so there's extra concern that they are okay.
  • Finding special ways to celebrate the holiday.
  • Keeping a schedule.

What can you do this week:

  • Wait patiently for your funding from SBA or call us if you still want to apply. As of Monday, we heard that Key Bank and Huntington have started funding PPP.  Other institutions are waiting just like us. The good news is that money from the SBA is starting to flow.
  • Make loans to your former employees whose unemployment benefits have not kicked in yet. Unemployment benefits are erratic. Your loan can be repaid when the $1,200 government assistance payment and/or unemployment benefits kick in.
  • Check out this fun video on the challenges of a zoom meeting.
  • Sign up for the Cleveland Leadership Institute to learn about our community. This great program is offered virtually starting April 23rd to May 28th weekly. The speakers are leaders in the community and you will also learn how the pandemic is impacting various civic sectors.
  • Check out over 20 other funding sources Forbes posted for nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
  • Schedule a call with the Great Cleveland Partnership Team to see if they can help you with a specific need. We called and they helped us connect with two programs that we were not aware of.

What our nonprofit clients are doing:

  • Requesting funders to allow grant funds to be used for other crucial needs.
  • Looking for other sources of funding like the Cleveland Foundation Rapid Response Fund. To date, they have awarded $2.3 million for urgent health, basic human services, and economic needs of impacted communities and individuals.
  • Reaching out to donors for additional funds. The CARES act allows non-itemizing taxpayers a charitable donation deduction of $300 for 2020.
  • The Esselstyn Foundation has started a Call to Action Campaign to help Live Healthy Appalachia provide plant-based soups and bread for those hardest hit by COVID-19 in Ohio's rural Appalachia region.

What BudgetEase has been doing:

  • Researched the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and posted a recap.
  • We supported our client Scorpacciata Pasta Co. by sending dinners to the entire team and their families. As usual, a fabulous meal made by Peter and his team was enjoyed by all. We used bartering to make the transaction happen.
  • Made and delivered 41 Easter treats for friends and family.

BE 1BE 2

We hope you're staying healthy! If we can be of service, please contact us.
