Real Estate Agents: More Time for Clients, Less Accounting

Written by Kathy Dise | Feb 6, 2017 5:13:05 PM

As a real estate agent, you are more than likely paid as an independent contractor. Tracking your income from commissions and fees may be easier (and more rewarding) than tracking all the tedious expenses you incur each year.

Here are some ways you can devote more time for customers and less time on accounting!

Use QuickBooks Online Self-Employed or FreshBooks to:

  • Separate business and personal expenses
  • Track income and expenses
  • Sync your bank accounts so transaction entry is a snap
  • Access information from your computer, phone or tablet
  • Track mileage

Keep All Receipts!

And remember to make notes about the business purpose. Brush up on our receipt tips for the IRS here.

Use One Business Debit Card or Credit Card

Using one card for all of your expenses will help minimize the number of accounts you have to reconcile.

Activate QuickBooks Mobile

You can also upload pictures or copies of your receipts on QuickBooks Online.

Expensify App

Take pictures and organize receipts, keep track of mileage and expenses for only $5/month/user and it automatically syncs with QuickBooks (only Essential or Plus version).

Free up more time for clients! Plus, take the worry out of having your bookkeeping done and ready for your accountant. Having properly organized bookkeeping and chart of accounts can streamline reporting for tax purposes.
