Did BudgetEase Accomplish Its 2021 Goals?

Jun 24, 2022 10:30:18 AM Kathy Dise Small Business, For Accountants, Professional Services

team goalsWhile I was on the plane on my way to Scaling New Heights 2022, the premier conference for Bookkeeping Experts, I took a look at my goals from the last conference held in November 2021 to see how well we did in accomplishing our goals. Here are the results including the grade we gave ourselves for achieving our goals.

Determine What Advisory Service(s) to Offer: Grade B

We have experimented with advising for software purchases and procedure review/modification. We have always provided Dashboards, cash forecasts, COA Structure, and Financial Software conversions. As a result of our review, we have improved the advisory services we currently provide but probably will not pursue the new advisory services we tested. We are not seeing cost-effective solutions to provide these services.

Practice Management: Grade C

We have reviewed Karbon, Canopy, and Client Hub (which included 2 weeks of use of the program). We still want to review Financial Cents. We are looking for:

  • Centralized email/communications
  • Document management
  • Workflow documentation and management
  • Ease of use and implementation - for BOTH clients and our team

Offer Payroll Service: Grade A

We really wanted to provide payroll for our clients. The more we learned about what needed to be done to provide payroll correctly, the more we realized it was not a service we could provide at a reasonable cost.  We did a deep dive into Patriot and agreed to add a client that might be a good fit, but thus far that client has not been found.

Encourage a Monthly Meeting With All of Our Clients: Grade B

We're excited that we implemented this, but it was not 100% followed yet. More training is needed. We should also be included in Job Descriptions for the Team.

Take the Tech Guru Tech Checkup: Grade B

Done! Our score recently was 85/100 when we took the Tech Guru Technology Check-Up. There are some areas of improvement, like a Practice Management Program. It's a great tool to see where you stand and prioritize new technology implementation.

Start a Weekly Video: Grade A+++

DONE! We now produce 2 videos a week and our delivery is much improved. We also have developed great videos for our website and for our proposal process. Visit our Youtube Channel to check it out for yourself!

Stay tuned for our goals and lessons learned from Scaling 2022! Or reach out to us if you need bookkeeping assistance or would like advice as to how your business can try to achieve similar goals!
