Client Spotlight-LGBT community center of greater cleveland

Introducing our valued client, the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland. With nearly 50 years of dedication to empowering Northeast Ohio's LGBTQ community, they provide vital resources, foster connections, and advocate for equality. We're honored to support their journey.

Tell Me More About Your Organization.

Our core programs cater to LGBTQ youth, seniors, trans, and gender expansive in our community. From every stage of LGBTQ life, we offer tailored programs. As a dedicated community and cultural center, we welcome allies seeking our services. In a landscape often hetero-normative, we stand out by being fully focused on the needs and support of the LGBTQ community.

As a prominent nonprofit, we're thrilled to announce our upcoming 50th anniversary celebration in 2025. We take pride in Cleveland, for sustaining our commitment through the years.

What is Your Biggest Challenge?

Navigating uphill battles against anti-LGBTQ legislation. Our community faces ongoing challenges from those attempting to impede progress through discriminatory anti-LGBTQ legislation. Despite the strides towards equality, discrimination persists.

In response, we emphasize the importance of unity, advocacy, and education. Raising awareness about the harmful impacts of such legislation empowers us and our allies to stand against discrimination. We actively engage with government representatives, urging them not to support policies that harm families and our community.

We celebrate our community's resilience through events like our annual pride event, a march, and festival that make us part of a larger movement. Education is a key focus, as we inform people about the detrimental effects of discriminatory laws on entire families. Our emphasis on inclusion and highlighting LGBTQ accomplishments make us a driving force for positive change.

What Lead you to BudgetEase?

Undergoing a significant transformation, our nonprofit organization faced a crucial juncture in budget expansion. In 2012, our budget stood at $256K. At the point of connecting with BudgetEase, we were raising an additional $150K, yet lacked the staff capacity to manage bookkeeping effectively and didn’t want to risk putting our 501(c)(3) status in danger.

Amid this transformative growth, coupled with the move to a new facility, we enlisted BudgetEase for their financial management expertise and nonprofit acumen. Today, with a budget of $2.7M, we are thrilled to have BudgetEase’s continued support, guiding us through this exciting phase of our journey over these past twelve years.

Why Do You Find Having Someone Else Do Your Bookkeeping Helpful?

This ensures our adherence to nonprofit rules that are challenging and complex. Like many nonprofits, we operate with limited resources, and BudgetEase’s easy monthly reports make our investment in bookkeeping a crucial lifeline. This commitment allows us to effectively manage budgets and demonstrate responsible stewardship, ultimately benefiting our valued donors and beloved LBGTQ community.
